The NamibRand Nature Reserve is a private nature reserve in Southwestern Namibia in the Namib Desert.
Founded in 1984 by J.A. Brückner, it has more than 215,000 hectares and shares a 100 km border with Namib-Naukluft National Park.
NamibRand is dominated by the granite of the Nubib Mountains
forming the eastern boundary, and by the shifting sand dunes of the desert in the west.
Namibia’s NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of Africa’s largest private nature reserves, has expanded its conservation role to include preserving the star-filled nighttime skies that shine above its dunes and mountains as a Dark-Sky Association, International Dark Sky Reserve.
Kwessi Dunes is located deep in Namibia’s striking NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Kwessi Dunes offer12 cool and comfortable (and air-conditioned) chalets all with canvas walls and thatched roofs. Each bedroom has a separate ‘star gazer’ room, completely open to the sky, and the perfect spot from which to watch the celestial theatre show above.
Wolwedans Dunes Lodge
Each of the nine spacious chalets with en-suite bathrooms has a private verandah, which connects you to vast stretches of untouched sand. Sleeping with your canvas blinds open is just like sleeping under the stars.
The main complex consists of two lounges, a number of sundowner decks, a fireplace, a tea deck, a library, the wine cellar and two dining rooms.
The lodge also has a swimming pool, which is suspended above the sand. All communal areas of the lodge open out onto decks with superb views.
Wolwedans Dune Camp
Positioned on the edge of a 250-metre high dune, the Dune Camp sleeps a maximum of 16 guests in a totally pristine setting. The tents are pitched on wooden platforms and are comfortable and spacious including a private bathroom. A generous deck allows for safe sleep-outs under the stars, imparting a rather civilized camping experience.
The main tent houses a lounge, dining area and an open-plan kitchen where you can chat to the desert chef, while he prepares lavish meals.
Wolwedans Boulders Camp
Situated 45 Km's south of Wolwedans and hugged by massive granite rocks, Boulders Safari Camp is the most remote and ‘classic’ camp of the Wolwedans Collection. Upon re-opening end July 2018, Boulders sleeps a maximum of ten guests in five spacious tents. This tiny camp is as far off the beaten track, as it can get.
The main area consists of a dining and lounge tent, a breakfast deck, library, pool and an open fireplace. Sundowners can be enjoyed from the top of a mountainous rock plateau close by, delivering epic impressions of the vast beauty of the surroundings.

The Private Camp is designed for those who enjoy the peace that utter silence can afford.
Wolwedans Mountain View Suite
With 200 square metres of deck rising above the dunes, the Mountain View Suite provides ample living space and adds a touch of luxury to the Wolwedans Collection.
